Packard Bell Electronics Inc. countersued Compaq Computer Corp. for =
unfair competition and defamation. The lawsuit was begun over claims by =
Compaq that Packard Bell uses recycled parts in new computers, falsely =

Apple Computer, Inc. agreed to pay the legal fees of Microsoft Corp. =
and Hewlett-Packard Co. in settlement of claims over Apple's ill-fated =
suit against the companies. The settlement is believed to have cost =
