Stratton Oakmont Inc. agreed to drop its $200 million libel suit =

against Prodigy Services Corp., in return for Prodigy saying it was =

sorry. Prodigy will pay nothing to Stratton Oakmont or its president, =

Daniel Porush, who contended they had been libeled in
messages posted on Prodigy's "Money Talk" electronic bulletin board. =

Prodigy says it is sorry they were hurt, but does not say it was =

Packard Bell Electronics Inc. countersued Compaq Computer Corp. for =

unfair competition and defamation. The lawsuit was begun over claims by =

Compaq that Packard Bell uses recycled parts in new computers, falsely =

advertising its machines as new. New York

Apple Computer, Inc. agreed to pay the legal fees of Microsoft Corp. =

and Hewlett-Packard Co. in settlement of claims over Apple's ill-fated =

suit against the companies. The settlement is believed to have cost =
